Dark Queen of Samobor Demo Out, Secures Kickstarter Funding

Dark Queen of Samobor, a cinematic action-adventure game blending Slavic mythology with the visual flair of classic Disney animation and 80s dark fantasy, has released its first public demo. The project, from a small independent team, also successfully secured full funding for its final development push via Kickstarter, reaching its goal thanks to community backing.

Inspired by Croatian literature and the atmospheric storytelling of games like INSIDE, Dark Queen of Samobor aims to deliver a unique experience. Players can expect a mix of hack & slash combat, axe throwing mechanics, and environmental puzzles, all brought to life through manually directed camera work designed to enhance its cinematic appeal. The full game is also slated to feature special abilities gained from defeating bosses, adding a progression layer to its combat.

The publicly available demo can be downloaded now on both Steam and Itch.io, offering players a taste of its distinctive world and gameplay. The development team has been actively responsive to early feedback, with a second patch already planned to address commonly reported issues, showing a commitment to refining the experience ahead of its full release.

The successful Kickstarter campaign was a crucial step for the studio, which operates as a small team and did not manage to secure traditional publisher funding for their debut title. The campaign, which is now in its final 48 hours, gathered enough support to ensure the game’s completion—a testament to the passionate indie gaming community that embraced the project’s vision.
